Snake and Bake.

Easy, casual outfit day. Some days you just don't feel like wearing your flatforms or semi-heeled boots. In this case, these soft suede oxfords are almost sneaker like without pushing me into sneaker territory, then again, who doesn't love sneaker territory??
My mind is going crazy planning Coachella outfits. This year, if you weren't already aware, the festival is TWO WEEKENDS in a row! Yeah, a little overboard in everyones opinion but, eh! Oh well, more parties, more people watching, more style stalking... I'm not sure if I'll have my style partner in crime with me again this year but let's think positive. That's what festival season is all about anyway right?! Good vibes.. oh and of course Spicy Pizza Pie! YUMMMMM!

Far and Wide.

“If you’re twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel— as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them— wherever you go.”
— Anthony Bourdain

I found another quote I fell in love with. I could not agree more with Mr. Bourdain here. Traveling is a huge passion of mine and while my passport may almost be full, I am still hungry for more! I went to London (of course!), Switzerland, and Barcelona to visit some friends last month and here are some photos from my last stop.
By the way, I've decided to share that tumblr I mentioned a couple posts ago. Seeing as how this quote came from there, it's only fair! ENJOY!

Nasty Habit Called Rock'n Roll.

Relying on iPhones for blog photos... I know, terrible and lazy and terribly lazy. Oh well, it's still a post!
Went to see one of my favorites, The Sounds, the other night. They're Swedish, like me :) and are definitely worth checking out if you haven't heard of them before. As usual, they put on a great show and will be back next month! Yes, I'll be there too.

Jubilee.

From my strolling around London. I really just cannot get enough of that city. It gives me such a great energy I can't describe. I love finding new stores to shop in and of course going to the same old ones. Visiting with old friends and making new ones. The best curry dishes I've ever tasted.  It's a wonderful place. Too bad my flight back from here in Barcelona only allows me a couple hours at the airport :(

Take A Ride on King's Highway.

With New York and London fashion weeks all just past and Paris just begun, there is far too much inspiration out there my mind is on overload. Not to mention all the other happenings that occur in one life. Too much to handle.
Lucky for me, and I say that with the utmost sincerity and seriousness, I leave in less than 2 days to go back to Europe. It's looking like it will be quite the great trip. Going back to my favorite places to see some of my favorite people. CAN'T WAIT!!

The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs is always a hoot. Coachella season or not. It's the cat's meow.

Basic-ly Neutral.

So it's some sort of unwritten rule that one shouldn't wear black to baby showers... or bridal showers.. or any showers for that matter.  Right? However, this is a very difficult rule to follow when all I own or am known to wear is black. It is a 'Trista-essential'. Soooooo when I needed an outfit today for a friend's baby shower located in sunny San Diego, you can understand my frustration when I go to my largely black and gray hued closet to begin that tumultuous task of finding an appropriate outfit.
Fortunately, I found this sweater placed ever so neatly on the floor. Hey, we can all relate right? Too many clothes not enough closet space?!  And this skirt which, yes, was actually tucked into a drawer, and these heels, these lovely towering embroidered heels, that seemed to fit just perfectly. I rarely wear them, I think this is the 4th time now but I have a renewed love for them (sorry Erin!).
By the way, before you wear a wool/cotton blend sweater, check the weather. They get hot. Real hot.

*I think I need my own pair of Saltwaters... they've really grown on me. Maybe in white?? Or black, duhh.

The Good Life.

When a blogger stays in a hotel for an entire week by themselves, it is only a matter of time till self portraits in mirrors are taken. It is also only a matter of time until the room looks as though someone actually lives in house.. clothes thrown everywhere, empty bottles of water here and there, countless TopShop and Selfridges bags, and enough venti Starbucks cups to stock the store for a day. I'm a firm believer that a hotel room doesn't need to be serviced everyday. I don't need fresh towels and linens, while pleasant, it's  complete waste. Plus, dare I risk having my s#*t stolen?! Hellz nah!

I'm still in the process of getting my disposables developed but soon they'll be posted here!
Here's me on my last night in London.. went and saw Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, such a great play and then out for some dancing. It was Carnival in London so we had our faces painted! Too fun :)

Jag älskar dig.

Where to even begin about Stockholm?? It was absolutely gorgeous. Not only the sights but the people and the fashion were absolutely stunning and inspiring. We were only able to spend a day & a half there which was definitely not enough time to explore the various neighborhoods or find the perfect shopping strand and of course, not enough time to be spotted by the illustrious and fierce style gazer and forecaster, Caroline Blomst, better known as CarolinesMode or STOCKHOLM STREETSTYLE. Bummer. Someday...
If you ever have the opportunity I highly recommend you visit.

Lilla Flicka.

Retracing our family history thru Sweden was quite amazing. Visited places where great grandparents lived in the 1800's! Mind-blowing to say the least. Met distant cousins and can't wait to go back and cisit again.. as well as continue the hunt for Prince Carl Phillip. Mmmmmmmm!

Time Is Running Out.

LA Rising yesterday with one of my favorites, Trisha... yes it gets confusing, Trisha/Trista. "Hi! I'm Trista!" "Hi, I'm Trisha". See? Anyhow, got to see MUSE for the 2nd time, AMAZING!

I should probably get to packing. I have to be at the airport in 12 hours and I have 2 things in my suitcase. Oh and I still need to shower and sleep!! What to pack?! How does one even begin to pack for 3 1/2 weeks and a fashion blogger at that! I have a long night/morning ahead of me.
IBIZA, LONDON, PARIS, COPENHAGEN... etc. HERE I COME!

Eyes on the Horizon.

Wearing my favorites/essentials here. Jean shorts, Wang tank, Gucci bag, boots, hat... you get the idea. Finally purchased the Marant 'Dicker' boots! Not the tan that Kate Bosworth or Caroline have, but black. The Topshop knockoffs do me just perfect for that hue and I wear black more often than death himself. I couldn't be more stoked!
3 week European vacation begins in t-minus 6 days! YEOWWWWW!!

15 July 2011

time for a wave.

Like I said in a couple posts back, went to Boston & Chicago recently to reunite with my friends from London. Mother nature decided to be kind & cleared up while in each city.. perfect for the White Sox/Cubs game! Did you know they're opening a TOPSHOP in Chicago?! Yes, you read that correctly. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this... 1st NYC & now Chi town. It's creeping it's perfectly irresistible claws closer to the best coast: THE WEST COAST. AWFUL! I love being one of the few wearing it 'round here. But like all good things...
