It's A Wonderful Life.

In the words of my 3 1/2 yr old niece "Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!" I have abandoned you lovelies for a bit but I am back. I sincerely apologize but I have been without my mac for over a week now(!) that's quite a long time in blog world, yes? yes. Can I tell you a secret? It's actually been quite the vacation. I do long for Rum(i)nspiration or some serious Olsen's drooling and MAJOR Purse N Boots gazing.... but it's still been nice. Christmas was wonderful. I ate a whole turkey. 5 sticks of butter. a can of black olives. and a couple dozen liters of soda. oh I also made the BEST Mexican Wedding Cakes, from scratch, or as I much prefer to call them "Nut Balls". It just has that special holiday ring to it, yes? yes.

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness! Also, I have to thank you wonderful lassies, and fellows! I am now up to 50 followers!! Well at least here on this google thinger. BUT WOW! I have beyond amazed and pleased. I love reading all your comments and while I may not be the best at getting back each time, I really try to at some point. Times are looking crazy in the future but I'm staying put!

How do you like my new layout?? The wonderful Molly over at Riff-Raff helped with my face-lift. She's the Harry Potter of Adobe. Hocus Pocus is no more, I am simply 'Style in Suburbia'. Much easier since that is the URL.  In other exciting news, I have just booked my flight for New York for New Year's Eve!! It's sure to be a hoot, even though I'll be out of my mind freezing!
And the BEST NEWS OF ALL?!? I'm heading to London for my final semester in school!! I leave the 2nd week of January! Boy oh boy, I can't begin to describe my feelings about this... excitement, nervousness, anxious, blah, blah, blah!

Silver Lining.

Sometimes waking up 5 minutes before class starts really has its advantages. I threw this outfit on in a matter of seconds, the hat of course to cover my greasy hair (some days i'm channeling Mary-Kate too well).  These platforms are my new favorite, and since California doesn't realize it's winter or is just seasonally challenged, they are just fine for the weather here. They come in leopard now too, rad!

Like A Boomerang.

Amidst all this studying one must have at least one night of fun, yes? yes. Tuesday night I went to The Plain White T's CD Release/Album listening party in Hollyweird. If you have a chance, pick up their new album, Wonders of the Younger! I'm always surprised and impressed by what those boys pull out of their noggins. I was told to wear my "best party dress" and since this new little number was fresh in my mind, I didn't argue with myself. Piled on the jewelry as per usual, taking into consideration the event I was heading to, and had a grand ol' time. Me+diet pepsi+goodtunes=truelove.

Need I point out how tired I look? My life has been completely turned upside down this past week and for the time being, it will remain that way. Normally I am nocturnal in the summer not the winter. Not this winter kids. It's all about the all nighters and 2 hour naps in the day. This makes for an incredibly crabby me, but it's a necessity. The weather here in So Cal has been very wacky so I have been living in tees and this faux fur. One of my favorite H&M purchases to date.

Pandora Radio always gifts me little gems. And here is a pink diamond (you do know how rare those are, right??). This band City and Colour hails from my neighbor to the great north, Canada, and is lead by frontman of Alexisonfire, Dallas Green. He's a handsome little devil with a great set of pipes. I couldn't resist posting this song because is is just so... perfect and basically got me all weepy and such. I can see the lyrics on Le Love, can't you? I'm such a girl. Sometimes. Okay fine, a lot. You are velcome.

Red Light District.

After the Elizabeth and James sample sale (see my last post gangstas), my girl fashionbeezy and I moseyed on over to Venice Beach for a little fattening up and photo sesh in front of the bums, high lifers, low lifers and drunks. They usually throw in the best commentary, especially since they aren't ashamed or afraid to shout out a compliment or two and of course their expert posing tips.
Oh Venice. I need to see you in the daylight. I need to admire the many creepy street performers, the vendors selling crap made in china, the cool vendors with handmade awesomeness, the skater dudes, and of course MUSCLE BEACH. I mean who doesn't want to see all those people, not just men, but the chicks too?!, showin each other up on the rings?? I've watched people in Santa Monica swing from ring to ring and it's disgustingly, mouth-wateringly, inspiring.
Anyhow, I'm rambling. It's late. Enjoy kids.

Oh P.S. this sweater is beyond comfy. I love that it isn't wool. No itch!

Elizabeth and James Sample Sale

Here are some photos from an Elizabeth and James sample sale I went to yesterday! I got there just before closing and the girls were nice enough to let me shop around and snap some photos while they closed up shop. To my utter delight, there was also another favorite brand, Patterson J. Kincaid too! I was a little girl in blogger heaven or trust fund baby in shoppers heaven... Far too many clothes and too little time for my head to even begin to search the racks and bins! I still walked away with a great score though (that's what he said)!

Sadly they didn't have the Wilderness Blazer, bummer, but they had this Carny Blazer, which I am now regretting not purchasing!
